welcome to the monthly matinΓ©e, a retrospective of the appleturnover long-form films. next up is deep litter.
the deep litter method is a good old fashioned way to keep chickens in a resilient natural system. see how to create a regenerative, living cycle in the henhouse and chicken run that yields fresh eggs, nitrogen rich compost for the garden and orchard and a healthy, contented flock of free range laying hens, ducks, geese and chicks.
this little film was the first one i made at appleturnover, with my partner at the time, just five years ago. iβve been making experimental video pieces since art school and video installation was the medium i chose for a solo exhibition and several group shows after it, but i learned to create every part of a documentary by making these films. even composing music, eventually even editing.
so it was a sheer delight to simply be on camera and collaborating with a filmmaking team in action here last month. what a team, and all those who have played a part in post-production, just wow. they have made such a piece - i cannot wait to show you. not long now.
thanks for watching, sharing and supporting.
meet you back here next sunday for the weekend letter.
