welcome to the monthly matinée, a retrospective of the appleturnover long-form films. next up is goosehouse.
the geese make this smallholding far more sustainable. they don’t need much to be contented themselves, but a cosy, secure house is primary. as we built the goosehouse we documented the process for you, and the goslings grew up along with it.
did you know geese can live for decades? they are such companions to us, integral to these stories of building a resilient, sustainable life on the microfarm - not least because they are the roombas of the orchard, grazing all day long with great contentment, hoovering up windfall fruit.
this little build is probably our most requested set of plans; the timelapse of watching us build it is what folks find so useful. being an improvised bit of architecture, i must work backwards to create the blueprints. i hope to do this one day - let me know if you, too, want me to send you them.
be sure to catch the bit at the very end when the geese explain to me exactly what they want!
thanks for watching, sharing and supporting.
meet you back here sunday for the weekend letter.
I so enjoyed watching this film, Elisa. We have a few small orchards and I can imagine some geese wandering around. Idyllic. Your goosehouse looks great.
