I love that you don’t supplement with light in the winter. All bodies need rest. These are creatures that belong to themselves and seeing them cared for in ways that allow them to express their true nature fills me with both gratitude and grief. Such respect and reciprocity and reverence ❤️
Yes … thank you … on my reading list now too … I love this line from the book description: “What if climate change is not a crisis to be solved but a living force inviting us back into relation?”
So adorable! I love them! I've been wanting to get chickens for a while but now I'm not sure.. maybe I want ducks instead. I love your videos, but was wondering why you keep cats outside? I know here in Australia they are devastating our wildlife..
monoculture and pesticides and lack of insects are what is actually decimating wildlife here. i would not cage any creature. and our cat is extraordinarily valuable to counter rats and a thriving opportunistic rabbit population. so i feel ok about the cat being out. i know it’s a difficult subject!
I love running ducks. We have three males running around in our garden. I just have one problem. One of them keeps chasing me (well all of us, but he’s worst around me) and biting my legs and feet. It’s especially a problem during spring and a bit into summer. It doesn’t hurt when he bites, but it gets quite annoying. Do you happen to know any good tricks to make him stop?
wow, i have never met an aggressive drake like that! i would try carrying a spray bottle and see if that will train him out of it. sometimes an animal is too sensitive for the social nature of a garden though, our gander was like that. he got upset by anyone coming in or out with wheelbarrows or bikes and eventually we found him a quiet home with geese in a corner area of a farm nearby where no one comes into his space. it was a very difficult decision but we are all much happier for it. not all characters fit a context, and it is worth drawing boundaries about what is acceptable. for me, feeling worried about getting bitten is a line. i’ve been amazed how an aggressive rooster here may be a happy gentle one elsewhere. best luck ☆彡

oh allison, thank you for this ♡
Yes, very much in the spirit of kincentric rewilding (Stagtine, D Griffiths)

oh so nice! i was going to send out ‘climate crisis as a healing response’ this weekend but delayed…
I've had multiple nudges from the spirit of invitation lately. Can we RSVP yes!
what an excellent term. *adds to reading list.

This is my favourite of all of your videos, Elisa. I’ve watched it countless times.
i’m so pleased it’s your favourite, melita!
( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
What a treat to watch
oh, thank you, kim!
Lovely ducks!
We kept a motley collection for about 12 years in County Donegal, Ireland. As well as, for a shorter time, some lovely hens.
I miss them. We live on an island, but mink can swim, and foxes get very hungry when they have cubs, and food is scarce.
ach, mink a n d foxes. not easy. wishing you wild birds to watch on your island ♡
Nothing better than watching birds run...or waddle...or whatever it looks like.
it really is a pleasing pursuit.
I've long fancied having runner ducks - one day, when the place and time are right
dreaming up a future that includes runner ducks has got to be a guide to living well ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
Love having ducks on the farm - over the years we've had most breeds from Muscovy and magpie to Aylesbury and runners - such characters
such characters! i have a feeling our latest runners have some harlequin, they went all dappled. love for all ducks! ( ´ ∀ `)ノ~ ♡
