Beautiful words as always. Been thinking lately a lot about how education system in America has failed so many people in large part by reinforcing the scarcity mindsets you write about. Imagine how powerful an educational system based on the realization of our collective abundance could be.
I have a 23 yo daughter and 21 yo son who are breaking molds...both quit college after 2 years knowing it wasn't working or getting them anywhere they wanted to be, both very smart kids who just couldn't take the hypocrisy another minute. Now I'm watching as they're struggling to find a non-conformist's path, to house themselves, to feed themselves, to find meaningful work/a purpose. It's very challenging to find the right way to be here now (to start out as a young person especially) that keeps one alive while also not killing our humanity and Soul. I fully believe in EVERYTHING you wrote in this post, AND am also fully present to the efforts involved in transitioning to this new way of being. I send monetary support here and there...when they're sick and have no paid time off (inhumane!), when they're trying to decide between buying food and toilet paper. My heart breaks that we don't take care of each other better in this county, that systems are not in place for all to be well. And still, I know it's coming, from the depths of my Soul I know.
My history (herstory?), often trips me up trying to ‘remind’ me that I’m not good enough, to try harder…
I am enough, and am trying to break that mould.
Yesterday I planted up one of 8 rose cuttings that I took from a prolific, beautiful, creamy, scented mother plant last year. The mother rose was growing in the small front garden of my daughter’s house, before she moved early this year.
This first potted up, strong cutting, is now growing in her new place.
My daughter has metastatic breast cancer.
The other cuttings will be for the gardens of her brother and sister, and one for me.
